Our world is a water world. Without it, our world would be much different and life as it is now could not exist. Most of things that are alive here require water to some degree. In fact, our bodies contain 40 to 50 quarts of water, making up the 70 percent water content of a healthy person. The brain contains an even higher percentage of water at 80 percent so it is very sensitive to dehydration. The electric and magnetic characteristics of each cell come from the water in and surrounding it. Almost every biochemical, hormonal and enzymatic process in the body depends on water for part or all of its function.
Scientific professionals a few years back postulated that lots of people are chronically dehydrated. They are losing water faster than they are replacing it through perspiration, urination, defecation and respiration. They believe that the rising health care crisis has its roots in dehydration and the resulting acidosis. Apparently it has no bearing on how much you drink but everything to do with what you eat and drink. For example, bottled water is very acidic and overtaxes the body’s buffering system. Reports say that it is just as bad for you as carbonated soft drinks. There are many symptoms of dehydration which can be mild to severe. They range from poor concentration, fuzzy thinking, cognitive impairment, impaired alertness, fatigue, weakness, muscle spasms, gall stones, kidney stones, constipation, kidney failure to death.
Experts suggest that everyone should drink at least half their body weight in ounces every day. That means if you weigh more than 130 pounds you should be drinking more than 8 ounces of clean water on the alkaline side every day. If you are very active or the climate is very hot, you may need more. Experts also suggest that if you don’t get enough water for your healthy body functioning you can become vulnerable to toxicity which can ultimately cause disease. Having enough water dilutes toxins and provides the river to flush the toxins from the body. Dehydration is like a swamp where everything just stagnates.
Proper hydration with water that is pure and free of contaminants with a rich mineral content, making it alkaline, is one of the best investments you can make in your health. If you start drinking this type of water, your body will want to continue and may even prompt you to drink more of it. You may even lose your taste for things that are not good for you. And that is a good thing.
